Indiana legalized mobile sports betting in May 2019 and the first sports betting apps were up and running by that October. With a growing number of big-name operators setting up shop in the Hoosier State, the time is right for IndianaBetting.com to rank and review the best Indiana sports betting apps.

- Ranking the Best Indiana Betting Apps
One of the biggest benefits of Indiana’s decision to legalize and regulate online sports betting is the level of quality demanded by the Gaming Commission. All mobile sportsbooks seeking to offer their services to Hoosiers must undergo an intensive vetting process, successfully apply for a sports wagering license and adhere to a long list of consumer protection regulations.
State lawmakers and the Indiana Gaming Commission deserve a round of applause for striking the right balance between keeping bad actors out of the market and fostering a competitive environment. Hoosiers have choices, but the overall level of quality remains high across the board.
As a result, ranking the best Indiana betting apps proved more difficult than we anticipated. There are no terrible or even subpar mobile sportsbooks on the market, and we hope that remains the case.
1. DraftKings Indiana
- Partnered with: Ameristar East Chicago
- Mobile apps for: iOS and Android
- Minimum deposit: $5
DraftKings Sportsbook was among the first wave of mobile betting apps to roll out in Indiana after the state legalized sports wagering in 2019. With an established brand name and technical experience thanks to its prior daily fantasy operations, DraftKings comes to Indiana with many strengths on its side.
DraftKings scores well in mobile app stability, range of betting markets, generosity of bonuses, variety of deposit methods and overall usability. DraftKings offers standard dime line odds for most markets and occasionally offers no-vig lines (commission-free bets) during promotional periods.
Bonuses and promotions tend to be bigger and more numerous than any other betting app to launch in Indiana to date. Ongoing promos come in a range of shapes and sizes to include parlay insurance offers, close loss refunds, odds boosts and repetitions on a theme in which DraftKings offers to pay bonus money for every strikeout or some other metric achieved by the team you have backed.

2. BetRivers Indiana
- Partnered with: French Lick Resort
- Mobile apps for: Android only; iOS in development
- Minimum deposit: $10
BetRivers Sportsbook comes to Indiana by way of Rush Street Gaming in partnership with French Lick Resort. The Rush Street group operates land-based casinos in three states and mobile sports betting in more as one of the surprise heavyweights in the regulated US online gaming industry.
BetRivers has the best welcome bonus by a long shot and was the first US-licensed sportsbook to begin live-streaming certain sports so you can watch live while you bet.
The big downside for BetRivers right now is its lack of a native iOS app. iPhone and iPad users can still bet online through the BetRivers website, but an actual app is still under development. We can thank a recent change in App Store guidelines for Rush Street Interactive having to go back and completely revamp its mobile betting app just as it was planning to launch in Indiana.

3. FanDuel Indiana
- Partnered with: Blue Chip Casino
- Mobile apps for: iOS and Android
- Minimum deposit: $10
FanDuel is the other big daily fantasy operator to enter the sports betting business and will be competing hard to carve out its place in the regulated sports betting market.
Like DraftKings, FanDuel benefits from its prior daily fantasy activities and has boasted a strong betting platform from day one in Indiana. Unlike DraftKings, FanDuel seems to be relying more on name recognition and advertising than large, frequent promotions. FanDuel is a bit light on promotions compared to Indiana’s other betting apps.

4. BetMGM Indiana
- Partnered with: Belterra Casino Resort
- Mobile apps for: iOS and Android (coming soon)
- Minimum deposit: $10
BetMGM came to Indiana in early 2020 with a full menu of betting on all major college and pro leagues from around the world. The people behind BetMGM Sportsbook have significant experience in taking wagers thanks to their operations in other states and that experience has translated well to Indiana.
From day one, BetMGM Indiana has offered new and existing customers alike a healthy selection of promotions. Weekly free bets, odds boosts and welcome bonuses make BetMGM one of Indiana’s more promotion-heavy betting sites.

5. PointsBet Indiana
- Partnered with: Hollywood Casino
- Mobile apps for: iOS and Android
- Minimum deposit: $5
PointsBet launched in March 2020 with the approval of the Indiana Gaming Commission. From day one, PointsBet accepted wagers through the desktop website and mobile apps for iOS and Android.
Although PointsBet offers standard fixed-odds wagers like every other mobile betting app, it stands out among the competition for offering a new type of wagering in which wins and losses vary based on the accuracy of the bettor’s predictions. For example, a PointsBet customer could place a $10 wager on the point total and win $10 for every point above the posted total the game actually goes.
Imagine betting $10 on the total in a college basketball game that has been set at 140 points. If the actual total ends up at 150 points, your payout would be $100 ($10 x 10 points over the total). This also opens the door to bigger losses, but PointsBet allows customers to set maximum win and loss limits for every wager to manage risk.

6. BetAmerica Indiana
- Partnered with: Rising Star Casino
- Mobile apps for: No mobile app released yet
- Minimum deposit: $10
BetAmerica Indiana has also launched online betting in Indiana, but does not yet have a mobile app. Our overall impression of BetAmerica so far is that it’s not quite ready for prime time. With no mobile app and no welcome bonus on launch day, we believe it is still too early to give BetAmerica a strong recommendation. Things will probably improve as BetAmerica gets its footing, but there are better alternatives for now.

Getting Started with Mobile Betting in Indiana
If you are physically located in Indiana, are 21 or older and own a smartphone, you have everything you need to get started with mobile sports betting. Note that you do not need be a state resident; visitors are also welcome to bet online while on Hoosier soil.
Getting started is a simple matter of visiting the sportsbook website of your choice from your mobile device. Just follow the instructions on the screen to sign up for an account, download the mobile app and make a deposit.
Indiana sports betting regulations (pg. 23) require all operators to collect certain information from all customers. When you sign up for an account, you will be asked to provide your full name, address, last four digits of your social security number, e-mail and phone.
The only way to avoid having to supply this information when betting on sports in Indiana is to visit a retail sportsbook in person and place a wager with cash. In doing so, you will only need to provide a government-issued ID showing you are at least 21 years of age.
Indiana betting sites are also required by law to take reasonable steps to verify the physical location of every customer to ensure all wagers take place within state lines.
This is accomplished by monitoring a variety of data points such as your IP address, mobile GPS location, cellular location and through wifi triangulation. In some instances, you will be required to connect to the internet through a wifi connection so your sportsbook can accurately track your physical location.
iOS users must allow Location Services for this to work properly. The first time you install your sportsbook’s mobile app, you’ll be asked to grant the app permission to view your location. On iOS, you can do so by going to Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services. Scroll down until you see the name of your sportsbook app, and ensure location is enabled “always.”
Android users must also turn on location, although the process for doing so varies by phone model.
You may also be asked to download and install the GeoGuard Location Validator app by GeoComply, which is a licensed services supplier in Indiana whose sole job is to assist sportsbooks in verifying the physical location of every customer.
If you have any issues with location verification, check the FAQ pages at your sportsbook’s website for guides to getting started or check in with customer support. In our experience, the mobile sportsbooks that have launched so far in Indiana are quick to answer questions.
After you sign up for an account at one of Indiana’s mobile sportsbooks and download the app, the next step is to make your first deposit.
State gaming regulations allow licensed operators to accept a wide range of deposit methods ranging from credit cards to PayPal.
Currently, Indiana betting apps accept some or all of the following deposit methods:
- Credit card: Instantly your account with most major credit card brands
- Debit card: Use your debit card just like you would use it to make any other purchase online
- PayPal: Use your existing PayPal account or sign up for a new one at PayPal.com to make deposits to and withdrawals from your favorite online sportsbook
- Online bank transfer: Transfer funds from your bank account to your betting account via ACH eCheck
- Prepaid card: Apply for a prepaid debit card from your sportsbook and then fund it with your own credit card, debit card or ACH transfer to play online instantly. You will also receive a physical card in the mail that can be used to make purchases anywhere Discover is accepted
- PayNearMe: Fund your account in-person with cash at nearby PayNearMe locations such as 7-Eleven, Family Dollar and other businesses
During the process of signing up for an account or making your first deposit, you will likely be asked if you would like to claim a new customer welcome bonus. Most sports betting bonuses come in one of two forms: deposit bonuses or free bet offers.
Deposit bonuses are offered as an incentive for signing up and funding your account. In most cases, the size of the bonus is directly related to the size of your first deposit and is expressed as a percentage. For example, a 100% deposit bonus will give you an extra $100 if you make a first deposit of $100 while a 50% bonus will give you an extra $50 on a $100 deposit.
Free bet offers work on a similar concept but are sized according to your first bet. For example, a 100% free bet offer will match the first bet you place with a second free bet of equal value.
You can read more about deposit bonuses here.
iOS Betting Apps in Indiana
Apple policy permits gambling and sports betting apps that are offered by licensed operators in the US. This means you can either visit the App Store directly to search for the betting app of your choice or head to the sportsbook’s website for a link to the appropriate download page in the App Store.
Because Apple operates the App Store as a closed ecosystem, all apps must be submitted for a review and can only be downloaded directly from the App Store. Therefore, if you visit a sportsbook’s website and follow one of the links to download the mobile app, you will be sent straight to the App Store.
While this adds another layer of complexity for developers, it also provides a second layer of security and oversight for sports bettors. The odds of a rogue or counterfeit betting app getting through the App store review process are slim to none.
Android Sports Betting Apps
Google does not allow gambling or sports betting apps on the Play Store, so you will need to visit your sportsbook’s website to download the app directly. Each sportsbook will walk you through the process step-by-step from start to finish.
The process will look something like this depending on which sportsbook you download and your particular model of smartphone:
- Tap the “download now” button for the Android betting app at your sportsbook’s website
- Select the betting app’s .apk file under Notifications in your Overview screen
- If you receive an “Install Blocked” message, tap “Settings”
- Enable the “Unknown sources” option to give your phone permission to install the app
- Visit your “Downloads” area, “Files” folder or “Downloads” folder and select “Install”
- Run the app, sign up or login and bet on sports
Betting Online with No Download Necessary
It is not necessary to download a standalone mobile app to bet online in Indiana. If you would rather not download a mobile app to your smartphone, you can visit the website of your chosen sportsbook to log in and place wagers through your mobile browser.
All of the mobile sportsbooks that have launched in Indiana to date offer this option. You may be prompted to download the app upon visiting the website or after signing up for an account, but this is optional.
Modern mobile-friendly websites do a commendable job of replicating an actual app for users who choose not to download the app. All wager types, in-play betting features such as live stats and account management options are offered through Indiana’s mobile betting websites.
This capability extends to desktop users as well. If you’re at a desktop computer or laptop, you can head to any licensed sportsbook’s website to view the odds, sign up for an account and place wagers.
What It’s Like to Bet on Sports with a Mobile App
Indiana’s licensed betting apps display a high standard of quality across the board. The Indiana Gaming Commission reviews and approves each mobile sportsbook prior to launch. Furthermore, all operators are required by law to meet certain standards regarding security and functionality.
All the same types of wagers you would find at any of Indiana’s retail sportsbooks are offered through each mobile app. Pre-game wagers, in-play betting and all manner of props are on the menu.
The experience as a customer is fairly straightforward. Once you have an account, you can log in to view a list of sports leagues, popular wagers and upcoming events.
Selecting any individual game will bring up a list of all betting markets for that particular game, including wagers on the outcome and a wide variety of other wagers such as alternative point spreads, player props and more.
Mobile betting is available across the state and the geolocation measures in place are effective at determining whether or not each user is within state lines.
Indiana gaming regulations also give sports governing bodies the ability to petition that geofencing technology be used to temporarily block mobile wagers in locations where sports events are taking place if there is an integrity concern.
Indiana Mobile Betting FAQs
Why do I have to be connected to wifi to bet online?
If your location cannot be accurately verified using your phone’s GPS and cellular data, you will be asked to connect via wifi so your sportsbook can determine your physical location and verify that you are within state lines.
Can I access sports betting apps from outside Indiana?
Yes, but you cannot place wagers. You’re welcome to browse the odds, make deposits and request cashouts from any state, but you will need to be in Indiana or another state with legal mobile betting to place a wager.
What if I place a wager while in Indiana and then leave the state?
Your bet will be treated just like any other. If you place a wager while in Indiana and then leave, you will still be able to log in from anywhere else to monitor your bet and cash out any winnings.
Are Indiana apps separate from the apps offered by the same sportsbook in other states?
It depends. If you downloaded the official FanDuel app while in New Jersey, for example, you can use that same app to place wagers when you’re in Indiana. The same applies to other operators that are active in multiple states.
Currently, the only state with completely standalone mobile apps is West Virginia. If you downloaded the FanDuel or DraftKings app while in WV, you will need to download the Indiana version separately.
Can I use my fantasy login to bet on sports?
If you already have an account with FanDuel or DraftKings for fantasy sports, you will need to provide additional information when you register for sports betting to meet additional Indiana requirements for identity verification.
Ranking the Best Indiana Betting Apps
Ranking the best Indiana betting apps is a challenge, but only because the sportsbooks that have launched so far are all run by quality operators. The Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC) also deserves credit for establishing a high level of quality by thoroughly vetting each app before granting it authorization to go live.
We prefer to take a systematic approach to forming these rankings in order to minimize the effects of our own personal preferences. Here are some of the key things we consider when evaluating a new mobile sportsbook:
- Mobile app availability: Is a native app available for iOS and Android devices? Does the mobile website support betting with no download necessary? The more flexible our options at a sportsbook, the better.
- Reputation: What do we know about this operator? Does it have a troubled history? Are there are a lot of disgruntled customers out there leaving negative reviews? Reputation is generally not a major concern thanks to IGC background checks that should pick up on anything too troubling, but this is still something we look at even if it’s just from a customer satisfaction standpoint.
- Quality of the odds: Are the odds comparable to what can be found at competing sportsbooks? Are the oddsmakers generous or greedy when they set the commission on their wagers?
- In-play betting interface: Is the live betting interface easy to use? Are live stats, live scoring data and live streams offered? How frequently are new wagers offered over the course of a game?
- Bonuses and promotions: Does the sportsbook offer a generous welcome bonus and frequent ongoing promotions? Does this betting app tend to shoot straight with customers or bury a bunch of surprises in the terms and conditions of its bonus offers?
- Ease of use: Is it easy to set up an account, navigate the sportsbook, place wagers and monitor outstanding wagers? Is it easy to deposit and withdraw?
- Deposit methods: We like to not only see many deposit methods, but also quick processing of all transactions. How quickly are deposits and withdrawals processed?
